3 Young Stone Harbor boys fishing in the channel

There’s not a whole lot that needs to be said about this photo discovered in the Stone Harbor Museum archives section. Talk about young lads and great adventure! We can generalize that this photo was probably taken sometime in the 1950s given the vintage outboard motor and the fact that these 3 young toeheads with their white blond short haircuts are proudly showing off their catch of a bunch of flounders freshly caught in the bay.

These boys were probably being supervised by one of their fathers who most likely took this particular photograph from the front of the small boat. Days like these are indeed memorable!

Perhaps your family summer photo albums contain similar kinds of images of some of your fishing expeditions, whether deep sea fishing or fishing in the bay while at Stone Harbor. Historically, fishing as a sport or activity has seemingly always been popular both years ago and even today.

Do you notice the Ocean Drive Bridge connecting Stone Harbor and the Wildwoods in the distant background?
