Picture of the Day No. 178 – “FIRST AVENUE HOUSE LOCATED IN STONE HARBOR, N. J.”

This brief account will depict two photos of the same house and on each occasion the residing family is portrayed as well.

I am assuming that this first image is the earlier of the two chronologically speaking.  The only information supplied with this first image is a follows: “N.W. side First Ave. between 95th & 96th Sts”.  It appears 6 persons are shown in this photo, 5 women and 1 man.  In addition, it was indicated that these 2 photos were taken 20 years apart.  Does anyone recognize this house?

1949 woody

This second image, seemingly the more recent of the two photos, gives us an approximate date when it was taken.  The automobile shown here serves as a clue and appears to be a 1939 Plymouth Westchester Woody Wagon.  That being said, and considering the clothing or the dress styles of the mother, father and the 3 children, it might be safe to say that they reflect the clothing worn sometime in the 1940s.

That’s all we know about these two photos that were obtained from the Stone Harbor Museum archives.  Should you have any additional information relative to these photos, we would certainly appreciate it if you would share with us what you know.  Thank you!
