No. 74 – “Sea View Cottage” for sale in Stone Harbor.

Yet again we are providing another image from the Stone Harbor Museum archives.  This very large house was described as follows in a 1916 real estate brochure listing available homes and apartments for sale and for rent. 

“Sea View Cottage – 101st Street near 1st Avenue, on lot E, block 101, 11 rooms (6 bedrooms), bath, laundry, electric lights, porches, cement foundation, open fireplaces, piped for heater.  A bargain at $5500.  For sale only.”

This spacious cottage even has a basement, a third floor attic space along with a large open front porch and 2 large porches in the rear.  At this point in time people were beginning to build homes and a few businesses south of 96th Street.
