This undated photo, retrieved from the Stone Harbor Museum archives, depicts a number of men relaxing and enjoying somewhat of a cooler day (notice the man in the foreground wearing a dark sweater) on the popular municipal fishing pier attached to the boardwalk and extending out in the ocean. One can only wonder if these fishermen were catching lots of fish on this particular day in Stone Harbor. The photo surely pre-dates 1944 as that was the year that the entire Stone Harbor boardwalk and 2 fishing piers including the one pictured here were destroyed in the Great Atlantic Hurricane of September 1944. Neither the boardwalk or the fishing piers were rebuilt by the borough.
