No. 11
Shown here is one of the first business enterprises in Stone Harbor. Owned and operated by M. L. VanThuyne, this general store was located at 85th Street and Second Avenue. This photo was apparently taken on July 4, 1912 and we know that this business provided meats, provisions, groceries and what were then called “gents Furnishings”. In addition, according to the large sign prominently displayed for all to see, it states “STOP / SPEND A PLEASANT HOUR / Stone Harbor Amusement Parlor / POOL and REFRESHMENTS / TABLES FOR LADIES.”
